Seeds of Literacy provides free adult education and GED preparation in Cleveland.

About

Are you financially savvy? If so, you understand the value of math, comprehension, and analysis--in short, literacy! By volunteering with Seeds of Literacy’s Finance Committee, you can help us provide the best program possible to impart these very skills to the 66% of Cleveland adults who are functionally illiterate.

Seeds of Literacy is a nonprofit organization offering free GED preparation and basic education to adults in Cuyahoga County. We’re seeking individuals to help oversee the budget process, review internally prepared and audited financial statements, and develop the organization’s investment policy. Ongoing missions of the Finance Committee include maintaining networks, investigating collaborative relationships, and strengthening the organization in a challenging economic environment.

Interested members should have expertise in finance, accounting, auditing, and investing, and familiarity with government regulations (i.e. IRS Form 990). Committee members should also be willing to reach out to their community on behalf of Seeds of Literacy. The committee meets monthly or as needed, in person or by phone.

If you’re interested in supporting Seeds of Literacy in our mission to empower adults to succeed in our community, please contact Alexandria Marshall at 216.661.7950 or alexandriamarshall@seedsofliteracy.org .
