The Volunteer Receptionist position involves general office work including the following:
Greet and direct visitors; field incoming phone calls; provide general information about CAIR, calmly respond to people seeking CAIR's help; handle typing, copying, data-entry, collating mailing materials and other assignments; help maintain clean and organized office environment; assist in event planning; other office tasks as needed
Basic orientation and a detailed procedure manual are provided to quickly become acquainted with task procedures.
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as editing and proof-reading skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Professional demeanor
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability
- Internal sense of urgency and initiative that promotes focus, creative thinking and solutions
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to details
Time commitment: A minimum six month, 8 hours per week commitment is required. This position requires all hours to be completed in the office, within the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

C AIR-Washington the local Washington state chapter of CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) serving the neighboring Northwest. CAIR is the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy group. CAIR-Washington is a not-for-profit organization registered in Washington. Though it leverages the resources, expertise, and knowledge base of CAIR (based in Washington D.C.), it functions as an independent organization that sets its own strategy and goals.
