Reading Connections provides adult literacy classes in the Detention Centers in Greensboro. We are currently looking for women and especially men to work as volunteer instructors at the Greensboro site located at 201 South Edgeworth Street. Literacy instruction includes lessons in reading, writing, math and, when possible, computer use.

The classes are small. We provide our volunteers with orientation, resources, and training starting a month before they are assigned to a class. Volunteers will shadow a seasoned instructor to become comfortable with the role of instructor and to learn our process. We ask for a one-year commitment of two hours a week.

Current class times are Tues/Thurs 2:30-4:00 and Thurs 9:00-10:30. We hope to have other times available soon, so anyone interested is encouraged to contact us and begin training.
