The Domestic Violence Healthcare Project (DVHP) is seeking volunteers to be trained as victim companions. Based at Carolinas Medical Center, (DVHP) provides 24-hour advocacy services to victims of intimate partner violence, in person at CMC-Main and by phone to all other Carolinas HealthCare System facilities.
Volunteers provide a comprehensive and caring response, which includes providing supportive services and safety planning based on short-term needs and long-term goals. DVHP volunteer companions provide services on nights, weekends and holidays during 12-hour on-call shifts. DVHP is accepting applications for all shifts.

2017 Training Dates are below. To be eligible to volunteer you must complete one training series.

Training 1

Tuesday, 1/17 5:30p-7:00p - Orientation

Saturday, 1/28 9a-4p - 1st Day of Training

Saturday, 2/4 9a-4p - 2nd Day of Training

*All 3 training dates are required.

Training 2

Tuesday, 4/11 5:30p-7:00p - Orientation

Saturday, 4/22 9a-4p - 1st Day of Training

Saturday, 4/29 9a-4p - 2nd Day of Training

*All 3 training dates are required.

Description

DVHP reaches victims of intimate partner violence at Carolinas Medical Center, offering advocacy services to victims including safety assessment, safety planning, photo documentation of injuries, IPV education, community resource information, and emotional support.
