ORGANIZATION: Northwest Neighbors Village

Have two or three hours of time here and there? Volunteer in your own community. One of several DC villages, Northwest Neighbors Village creates a neighbor-to-neighbor network of support allowing seniors in upper northwest to stay independent and connected to the community. Volunteers help with life’s little challenges-making sense of technology, changing light bulbs, or managing small projects. Volunteers also provide rides to programs and medical appointments. As a volunteer with Northwest Neighbors, you can also help organize interesting programs and social events or write an article for our newsletter. You will develop friendships with members and other volunteers who live in the community while attending (or leading) a walk, educational program, book club, outing or a myriad of other activities.

Volunteering is easy and flexible. Each week, volunteers receive a list of requests. Choose one that matches your interests and schedule. And if you are not available that week, just check back the following week.

Northwest Neighbors Village covers upper northwest DC, from Upton Street north. You’ll find us in Forest Hills, Chevy Chase, American University Park, Tenleytown and Friendship Heights.

To volunteer or just get more information, contact us at nnvillage@gmail.com or on the web at NNVDC.ORG. You can also reach us by phone at 202-777-3435. Locate other DC villages at https://dcgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=cd1880a5e3d44b128116622f25676df1 .
