Communities In Schools afterschool program at Velasco & Jane Long Elementary is looking for volunteers to help students with reading comprehension and reading skills. Volunteers are needed between the hours of 3:45-4:45. Students have the opportunity to work on reading skills daily. If you are interested in additional information to make a difference in the life of a child, pleace contact:

The philosophy of CIS is based on the idea of keeping students in school by directly addressing all of the problems and concerns that cause the child not to do well in school or consider dropping out. CIS’s comprehensive programs provides students with the opportunity to overcome obstacles thus making it easier for them to stay in school, successfully learn, and prepare for life.
