Since the rollout of the Affordable Care Act, Foundation Communities’ Health Coverage program has helped thousands of Austinites connect to affordable health insurance. We expect to support 5,000 individuals during the Marketplace Open Enrollment period (11/1 - 12/15) and we’re in need of 100+ volunteers to meet the demand! Volunteers are trained to guide community members through the healthcare.gov application and provide the critical link to accessing healthcare. It’s a great opportunity to work 1:1 with the community and see healthcare policy in action. Volunteers can join us remotely (with the additional option of volunteering in-person, should the course of the pandemic allow it). We offer shifts Monday-Saturday, which are broken down into 1.5 or 3 hour blocks. We hope volunteers can commit to donating 15 hours total over the course of Open Enrollment. Contact volunteer@foundcom.org to learn more.
