Help bring comfort and support to Gentiva Hospice patients and families! Vigil volunteers are needed to provide a comforting presence during the patients' final hours. Vigil volunteers can support patients who are without family or friends available or support family members who need a break from the bedside of their loved one.
A vigil volunteer has more of an "on call" experience as support is provided only as needed. Vigil volunteers' location and availability will be taken into consideration when scheduling assignments. No one should die alone. At Gentiva Hospice, we aim to make life as comfortable as possible for our patients in their last moments. Volunteer at Gentiva today!

Description
Hospice is not a place; it is a philosophy of care that enhances life as it nears its end for terminally ill patients and their families. When medicine cannot provide a cure, hospice care offers comfort and assistance to help maintain a better quality of life for the patient and family.
This type of attention, called palliative care, involves the aggressive treatment of physical, emotional and spiritual pain and symptoms. It focuses on enhancing patient comfort and quality of life, and provides psycho-social and spiritual support for both patients and their loved ones. Gentiva believes that through sensitive, appropriate care and the support of a caring community, patients and families can begin to prepare to face the inevitable challenges ahead.
