The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
"A few years ago I suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a car accident. After a long stint in the hospital and rehab, I was sent home to recover. I had to start learning everything all over again; walking, talking and household chores were all a challenge. My TBI caused heightened sensory issues so that too much light and sound could be nearly crippling for me. I needed to go for continuing therapy but getting there was a significant obstacle. Then I learned about TASC.
I am certain that my volunteer driver had no idea who this lady with the dark sunglasses, a headset to protect her from the noise and a walker was getting into his car but the moment he closed the car door I felt safe. And he was driving me towards hope; something that I needed so badly at that difficult time."
It's simple; being able to get where you need to go is central to maintaining health and living independently with dignity. Nearly every day of the week TASC volunteer drivers are on the road making a difference one ride at a time! Rides are provided by TASC volunteer drivers.TASC serves eligible adult residents of the towns of Exeter, Greenland, Hampton, Hampton Falls, Kensington, Rye, Seabrook and Stratham, NH. Come along for the ride!
