The Compass Housing Alliance Client Services Office (CSO) is seeking mailroom volunteers. Volunteers will help alphabetize, sort, and enter mail into our database. The Compass CSO mail service is crucial for clients who are homeless, living in shelters or have no stable housing. Without this service our clients would have no way of connecting to family, housing applications, benefits notices and many other connections that most of us take for granted.

Volunteers are a crucial component of the CSO team as there are currently approximately 3000 clients who receive CSO mail services. The CSO processes and distributes 1000 pieces of mail each day and serving over 5000 mail clients throughout the year. Mail is sorted and distributed to clients five days a week from 9am to 4pm. In addition to mail services, the CSO provides saving accounts for over 800 clients who would not be eligible for traditional bank, information and referral to essential services, community voice mail boxes, legal clinics, and payee case management for recipients of cash benefits from the Social Security Administration and the VA. Volunteers make a direct impact on the lives of each client receiving services at the CSO. This volunteer opportunity is a tangible way to help an organization dedicated to serving people struggling with homelessness and poverty. Volunteers must be 18 or older, pass a background check, and be available for shifts weekdays between 9am and 4pm. Shifts within that timeframe are flexible, but we ask that volunteers commit to volunteering on a consistent, weekly basis for at least three months.
