Chimp Haven is the National Chimpanzee Sanctuary housing over 200 chimpanzees.
Volunteers can help in a variety of ways including: making chimpanzee enrichment, doing chimpanzee laundry, gardening, organizing and filing, or helping with one of our special events.
Most opportunities are available from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday and require training. Special Events occur six Saturdays a year and no prior training is required.

Chimp Haven's mission is to provide a home for chimpanzees no longer needed in research, as pets or in entertainment.
Description
Chimp Haven serves as the National Chimpanzee Sanctuary System and operates a sanctuary located near Shreveport, LA, on 200 acres of lush forest in a nature park. The facility is being built to house 200 chimpanzees retired from medical research facilities. The chimpanzees have many different types of areas to choose from, including large 4-5 acre forested habitats. An experienced staff and expertise on the board of directors sets the stage for exceptional animal care programs and the highest standards. Educational programs are offered on a limited basis.
