APL Title

The Austin Public Library is looking for volunteers to help in our teen center. Volunteers will help our teen customers by leading afternoon activities OR by leading the Connected Youth Center (teen computer lab).

Responsibilities: (Volunteers choose either activities or the computer lab)

  • Lead students during afternoon activities with topics such as STEM, literacy, and self-esteem. Activities will be hands on.
  • Lead students in our Connected Youth Center as they learn to work with computers, game equipment, and new technologies.

Qualifications:

  • If choosing activities, volunteers should be knowledgable with leading group activities and able to communicate effectively.
  • If choosing the Connected Youth Center, volunteers should be highly knowledgeable about computers and able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be patient and willing to encourage students in their learning.
  • Must enjoy working directly with youth ages 10-18 years old in an active and energy filled environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not necessary.

Time:

  • Shifts are Mondays or Wednesdays or Fridays from 2:30p-5p
