Project LIVE helps Knox County Seniors (age 60+) remain living in their own homes as long as possible. As we age, we lose the ability to do some of the basic repair or maintenance tasks needed to upkeep a home. Volunteers can support local seniors by filling these needs to help seniors live in the home they are proud of and comfortable in.
Volunteers receive emails once or twice a month with projects that need adopted. Sometimes it is as simple as mowing or weedeating for a senior, cleaning out gutters or trimming hedges. Other common requests include installing safety equipment such as handlebars or railings, helping declutter and organize, or moving heavier furniture or appliances for the senior.
Occasionally we get requests for specialized help including plumbing, electric, or carpentry. Minor construction projects like small ramps to help seniors keep their home safely accessible as they transition to walkers, rollators, or wheelchairs are also available.
Flexible Scheduling - when we email out projects, volunteers can adopt one and we'll put them in touch with the senior to schedule the project in your free time. We welcome teams, groups, or families to take on larger projects. Volunteers can also adopt just part of a project, and we'll find another volunteer to take on the other aspects.
Volunteer as your schedule allows, there are no time requirements: weekdays, weekends, mornings, afternoons and as often as you are available!
