Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
To help alleviate the difficulties of being homeless, we are offering our guests transportation to/from the Community Meal Center and our Hospitality Center. This saves our guests from walking the distance to the wonderful free meal programs, and allows our guests to use the energy and time otherwise used for acquiring food to instead focus on their steps out of homelessness. Very few of our homeless neighbors have their own vehicle and really appreciate this little convenience added to their day.
Currently, NLHHC is need of volunteer drivers to drive our 14 passenger vehicle and transport guests. There is a need Monday through Friday, 11:30 Or 4:00pm. Volunteers for this position should have a fairly good driving record with no outstanding tickets to be able to be added to the company insurance policy at no charge.
