ORGANIZATION: Amigos De Bolsa Chica

Amigos Logo
Founded in 1976.

Bolsa Chica needs your help! The Amigos de Bolsa Chica are seeking volunteers who will do water sampling at the wetlands and tidal inlet. Microscopy and Chemical Analysis are performed on the water sample. The results are tabulated and a small sample is sent to the California Department of Public Health every week.

We also have field trips of students from middle school up to college attend our programs. We are looking for people who are interested in teaching the students about plankton, water quality monitoring and about the differnence we make in the community with FLOW.

Your involvement makes a positive impact on the environment and the community: we take care of it and it takes care of us. Think globally, act locally.

If you're interested in any of these opportunities, please email: flow@amigosdebolsachica.org

Mission Statement

We advocate for the full protection of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve and educate our community about its ecological value.

Description

The Amigos de Bolsa Chica is one of the oldest and most successful environmental preservation organizations in California. We rely upon members, volunteers and the community to continue fulfilling our mission.

The Amigos de Bolsa Chica is a 501(c)3 foundation that was formed in 1976 by a small group of Huntington Beach citizens who were concerned about the loss of a rare and valuable piece of open space, the Bolsa Chica wetland.

Over the years the Amigos have provided off-site programs and guided tours of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve for thousands of school children and adults.
