Doorhanging Team for Uhuru Furniture
Our volunteer teams put our doorhangers on community doors promoting donating to Uhuru Furniture to support the mission of the African People's Education and Defense Fund.

Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles (501c3 nonprofit organization) has an onsite volunteer position open. We are an economic development project of the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (www.apedf.org).

The Volunteer Coordinator would be interested in working with people of all ages and all backgrounds. Do you love meeting new people? This could be a fun and rewarding position for you!

The Volunteer Coordinator would work with the Store Manager to carry out our volunteer program that trains, schedules and recognizes all of our amazing volunteers!

Ideally this person could commit to 20 hours per week. Days and times are flexible.

Other Volunteer Coordinator duties include:
- Reviewing volunteer hours and rewarding volunteers when they reach milestones
- Taking pictures and getting quotes from volunteers and posting to our website
- Updating the volunteer board every week with fresh material
- Sending welcome emails to volunteers, thank you emails and follow up emails
- Updating volunteer database
- Assembling orientation packets
and more!

There is so much potential for the right person or people to bring their creative ideas to this volunteer position!

Description

Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a non-profit store that is a fundraiser for black community empowerment programs of APEDF. We receive a truck load of donated furniture and household items every day. This is a lively, popular Grand Lake area store staffed mostly by volunteers. When you volunteer at Uhuru Furniture, you not only contribute to the success of the store, you become part of a larger movement for peace through social justice. People shop at Uhuru Furniture for low priced, top quality items and to support crucial programs for social justice for African people.
