ORGANIZATION: City of Tempe Arizona

Museum "educators" are needed to work as part of a team to present information on living in the desert, cultural diversity, Arizona State University and the history of Tempe. Information presented is tied to the school curriculum of Tempe 5th graders, the class groups who will be participating. No experience necessary, but a love of history, the southwest, Tempe, and school-age children are a plus!.

Programs are presented on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., from late September to early December. Volunteers may pick and choose dates among the scheduled school visits.

Volunteers present information from one part of the program and help run craft other other activities. Training and information are provided and new volunteers "shadow" experience volunteers until they feel comfortable working on their own.

An information/orientation session is scheduled for Thursday September 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Tempe History Museum, 809 E. Southern Ave., Tempe.

Call the City of Tempe volunteer office at 480-350-5190 for more information and to register for the information session .
