Homework Central is an after-school tutoring program serving 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students from the North Central area of San Mateo. We have 4 sites: Sunnybrae Elementary, San Mateo Park School, the Unitarian Universalist Church, and Baywood Elementary School. During the school year, our sites accommodate 20-25 children. Volunteer tutors work with students on their homework, strengthening their math, writing and reading skills.

Site Hours:
3-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
1-3pm Wednesday

Please note: Homework Central only operates during the school year, from September - May. We do not have summer volunteer opportunities.

Sites closed for major holidays and district breaks.

The mission of Homework Central is to assist children in developing their capacity to learn and achieve through homework assistance and family support.


Homework Central is an after-school tutoring program for 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders in the San Mateo-Foster City School District. We operate at four community sites from September to May providing individualized and group tutoring in English, reading, and math. Homework Central is a nonprofit organization focused on educational equity for disadvantaged students ensuring that they have the same opportunities as their peers.
