The Orange County Literacy Council operates a computer lab at the Orange Correctional Center, a minimum security men's prison in Hillsborough, to help men gain the computer skills they will need to secure employment or pursue higher education upon their release. The class provides instruction in everything from basic mouse and keyboarding skills to file management to using Microsoft Office. Because the computer lab is in a prison, there is no Internet access. We are seeking volunteers to assist with the computer lab on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons from 2-4 PM. Interested volunteers must be willing to complete an application and background check through the NC Department of Corrections.
If interested, please contact Tyler Gilmore at tgilmore@orangeliteracy.org.
