ESL One-on-One Instructor with St. Joseph Services

Just one and a half hours a week and you can help our adult ESL students build English skills and conversational confidence!

We are looking for talented individuals the opportunity to lend their knowledge of the English language to our enthusiastic adult students. Instructors are not required to know a foreign language. Interested instructors will have the opportunity to observe a class and receive free training prior to starting. Once on board, you will have the knowledge and resources of dedicated staff to assist you in becoming an effective ESL Instructor and/or Assistant.

Responsibilities

Prepare lesson plans and teach English to speakers of other languages. Including but not limited to grammar, writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills.

Needs and Available times (starting ASAP)

Immediate Openings

• One-on-one instructor to meet once a week for 90 minutes with an adult learner between the hours of 11:30AM-1PM or 6PM-7:30PM Monday - Friday

Qualifications

Over 18 years old

Semester long commitment, 1.5 hours a week

Complete 12 hour Literary Works training (free to volunteers)

Provide copy of resume and two professional references

Pass a background check

Accepting of other cultures and beliefs

Bilingual a plus, but not necessary
