ORGANIZATION: American Cancer Society - Relay For Life

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising activity. It is an overnight, team event where each community comes together for one day and one night to honor cancer survivors and their caregivers, to remember those we have lost, and to fight back against a disease that takes too much from too many. Teams of approximately 8-15 people commit to raising $100 each and take turns walking or running relay-style for 24 hours. We are currently seeking volunteer to help with the planning and implementation of our 2014 event in Half Moon Bay.

Relay For Life of Half Moon Bay needs Volunteers to Help with Team Recruitment. Responsibilities include:

  • · Retain and recruit committee volunteers that represent the entire community to help with new team recruitment.
  • · Collaborate with Chair to plan and set goals for new team recruitment.
  • · Employ year round strategies to recruit new teams that represent the entire Relay community.
  • · Be an expert on team recruitment materials/resources.
  • · Leverage kick-offs, team meetings/rallies, fundraising workshops, bank nights, event days, and wrap-ups as opportunities to enlist team captains, team members, survivors, and other Relayers to help with new team recruitment.
  • · Ensure that all other committee volunteers are considering team recruitment in their plans.
  • Ensure that all team retention and mentoring volunteers/contacts know how much they are appreciated.
