Hospice of the Western Reserve serves patient's wherever they consider home. David Simpson Hospice House (DSHH) is available for patient's who are in need of symptom management, as well as for patients to stay while their caregivers take a period of respite. During patient stays, volunteers provide companionship, music, art, or general presence.
We are currently looking for volunteers who are willing to visit during evening hours (after 5pm) or on the weekends. Prospective volunteers should have excellent communication skills, and specifically be comfortable listening or sitting with a patient who would like someone just to sit in silence. Volunteers should be able to maintain patient confidentiality.

Description
Hospice of the Western Reserve provides care for patients where ever they call home, whether that be at home, in a nursing home, assisted living, one of our inpatient units, or in a hospital. Care is provided regardless of ability to pay. We use a team approach where volunteers are of equal importance to all other members of the team.
