Mission Statement
Partners for Development's (PFD) mission is to work with underserved populations in developing countries to improve quality of life. Our central criterion for assistance is need, without regard to race, religion, age, sex, or ethnic group.
Description
With programs currently in Cambodia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Nigeria, Tanzania and Benin is addressing local needs in public health, agriculture, small enterprise development and micro-credit. PFD previously managed public health and livelihoods programs in Somalia and Rwanda and ran a credit program in Liberia.
We work in a manner such that local partners help design, implement, and assess programs to the greatest degree possible. This approach of collaborating with local counterparts leads to skill-development in key areas. For example:
- Training local health-care providers in prevention and treatment of primary health-care problems.
- Providing technical assistance in startup and support of small enterprises.
- Promoting growth and enhanced capabilities of many partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs) locally.
PFD is tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and is registered with the U.S. Agency for International Development as a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO).
