Would you like to experience the presence and comfort of being with someone through the dying process? If so, Compassus Hospice would like to hear from you to become a member of a very special team...volunteers that provide bedside vigil during the active dying stage. Volunteers who have experienced this role state "this is a privilege and has added greatly to the quality of my life."

You will meet family and patient on all levels of the active dying journey; physically, emotionally and spiritually. This includes directly supporting the patient, advocating for patient needs and supporting family members through education and reassurance in the death process.

This volunteer position requires flexibility (ability to assess the situation, make decisions and respond to the moment), being comfortable with death, ability to use death as teaching moments, a calm presence, meeting families where they are, and knowing when to ask for help.

Volunteers must be available on short notice due to the nature of service. Compassus Hospice is a community-based organization, traveling to nursing facilities and private homes in the Metro Denver area.

Whether you have had a personal hospice experience, feel a calling, want to add special skills to your resume, want to give back, or...... we would love to hear from you. You will receive Core training and advanced training for Transition Volunteers.
