VITAS Volunteers promote hospice care by helping office staff prepare mailings, maintaining patient records, assist assist with computer work, filing, or stocking supplies, copying, faxing, preparing packets and assist with special projects. Come in during the day or afternoons to help us make a difference. Excellent experience for future employment, references available.
All volunteers must attend a comprehensive orientation to gain the knowledge you will need to work with terminally ill patients. These are currently held online via Zoom and/or via self-study.
In order to comply with the State of California’s COVID requirements, all volunteers must have one of the two items below.
- Be fully vaccinated with booster (proof required) with no testing requirements
- Apply for a VITAS vaccine exemption (reviewed on a case-by-case basis) with proof of weekly negative tests required

Description
Volunteers are the heart of VITAS Healthcare, providing friendly, non-medical support to hospice patients and their family or offering support services in the office. We are seeking caring and compassionate individuals to volunteer for our patients in their homes or in nursing facilities in your community throughout San Diego County.
