We are looking for someone who is expert in the new tools and approaches for public relations and social media, to help develop a strong PR Strategy for our cutting-edge non-profit.

The mission of our team is to bring about fundamental changes in the way scientific research is done in the USA. We envision a science culture where people and ideas flourish in workplaces that are thriving, in a culture of contribution and collaboration. We are a very hands-on and idealistic team, and our projects, though demanding, are extremely fun and rewarding.

One of our major projects is our Third Space events. These interactive events are based on Ray Oldenburg’s 'Third Place’ theories; we wish to expand these and 'go where the scientists are,’ potentially creating a new initiative for presentations at major scientific meetings. We work with a global network; most of our work is done online, virtually, and via phone conferencing.

As a PR strategist/Marketing volunteer, you will join a core group of dedicated Yámana Science and Technology worker volunteers to shift the paradigm of science. Help us to shape and tell our stories about our outlook of the future of science!

DUTIES include:

• Expand our communication efforts and lower our cycle-time for keeping in intimate contact with our donor base and our idea-generators.
• Write and distribute press releases, related to our upcoming events
• Work with us on blog posts (yours, ours, Yámana’s),
• Generate materials that help us build capacity and producing updates to generate interest in our organization.

Other possible projects:

Build RSS to track Yámana’s presence on social media outlets

Develop and maintain a database of Yámana social media marketing efforts

Develop web analytics using our Google for Nonprofits account

Develop our connectivity through our current YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook channels
