The gift of music often serves to ease stress and anxiety, soothe hearts and comfort one's spirit. AseraCare Hospice is looking for volunteers who sing or play musical instruments to improve the quality of life of our seriously ill patients and families. Spending time with a Hospice Patient is a great opportunity for you and them alike. Schedules are very flexible.
Touch the heart of a Hospice patient. Due to covid-19 restrictions, visits are not being done at this time. We are on boarding volunteers so you will be ready to start once restrictions are lifted. Facilities are getting ready to open back up soon.

Description
AseraCare is a family-centered hospice. We provide hospice services to patients and their families in the place they call home - in their apartment or house, assisted living or nursing home. Our services include RN case management, home health aid visits, social work, spiritual care, volunteers, and bereavement support for the families.
Hospice volunteers are needed in St. Joseph's County, Elkhart County, Marshall County, LaGrange, Fulton County and Kosciusko County to provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families according to the patient's plan of care. Hospice patients are individuals with terminal illnesses with a life expectancy of 6 months or less. Volunteer support me be in form of conversation, handholding, simple presence at the bedside, recreational activities, and pet/music therapy. Volunteers have the opportunity to develop on-going relationships with patients and families throughout their illness, or may be involved in short term "vigil" relationships.
