Habitat for Humanity of Eastern CT ReStore Logo

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is seeking volunteers who would like to help.

The ReStore is a discount home improvement center where new and gently used appliances, furniture and building materials are donated and then resold to the public for much less than the market value. All of the proceeds go towards building housing in partnership with those in need in Eastern Connecticut through the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut.

Some of the tasks volunteers can participate in are organizing merchandise, displaying merchandise, unloading trucks, cleaning, refurbishing donated merchandise, pricing items, greeting customers, answering customer questions, delegating tasks to other volunteers and being a weekly cashier.

Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut, in the spirit of sharing, builds decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need. We do this through the dedicated efforts of community volunteers, financial sponsors and partner families who find rewarding experiences by sharing their time, talents and resources. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of others, fulfill the dream of home ownership and help eliminate sub-standard housing in Eastern Connecticut.

Description

Organized in 1987, Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut (HFHECT) has constructed or rehabilitated 70 homes in our area using volunteer labor and donated building material or material purchased with donated funds. The affiliate's financial backing comes from private citizens, foundations, corporations, and area churches. Future homeowners work side by side with volunteers from the community.
