TEEN LINE is a confidential telephone helpline for teenage callers. Teens call this hotline when they are facing issues of any size and to speak with someone their own age who is non-judgmental and there to listen. TEEN LINE’s trained Listeners help callers clarify their concerns, discuss options available, and make referrals to community resources, if needed. They staff the lines, and respond to emails and texts, every evening from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. PST
To get involved, you must live in the Los Angeles area and be in the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade of high school (Fall of 11th grade is the last session you can apply for). If you are interested in applying to TEEN LINE's volunteer program, please visit www.TEENLINEonline.org and click on "Get Involved" and "Volunteer" to fill out our application.
We have a careful screening process that includes the completion of a 5-page application, and individual and group interviews. Volunteers are unpaid, although you may get community service credit at school.

Teen Line's mission is to provide peer based education and support to youth before problems become a crisis, using a national hotline, community outreach programs and digital spaces.
Description
Teen Line is a peer-to-peer helpline for teenagers. Highly trained teenage volunteers answer phone calls, text messages, and emails every evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm PST from youth nationwide who want to 'talk it out' with a peer. They won't judge you or give advice - their job is to listen to and validate your feelings and help come up with a plan together to address your concerns, whether that is trying new ways to cope with stress/anxiety or getting helpful resources. No problem is too small, too large, or too shocking for the TEEN LINE volunteers. Teens can call 800-852-8336 from 6pm to 10pm PST or text "TEEN" to 839863 from 6pm to 9pm PST.
