Come serve coffee and meet an incredibly interesting group of adults at a downtown low-income housing complex.
Many of the folks who participate in our programs are mentally ill, aging, or disabled. Some are formerly homeless and trying to make the adjustment to living "inside" for the first time in a while. All of them have a story, and it's worthwhile to get to know them.
Coffee & Conversation is one of our most popular volunteer offerings because it offers a relaxed activity with very few requirements other than being friendly and sociable. All of our volunteers work under the supervision of a skilled Resident Services Coordinator. The experience is very free-flowing and you will get the most out of it if you are naturally outgoing, love sparking up conversations, and enjoy helping people make connections in their community.
We are looking for volunteers 18 year of age and up. C&C requires a weekly 2.5 hour commitment for a minimum of 3 months. Volunteers are required to show up 15 minutes prior to the event and stay 15 minutes after. If you’re interested in really getting to know the amazing people we serve, this is a great opportunity for you!
As a volunteer at C&C, you will:
- Serve coffee and light refreshments
- Facilitate conversations and help foster community
- Play board games and assist with any other activities (such as craft projects) happening during C&C
- Help set up and clean up
Available time slots are:
Weekly:
- Wednesdays 1-3PM
- Thursdays 1-3PM
Monthly:
- Last Tuesday of Month 5-7PM
- Last Friday of Month 11-1 PM
We are look forward to hearing from you if you feel this oppportunity if a good fit.
