The ideal helper will have experience in filing, a high level of accuracy and be good at researching events and resources for our clients. Duties would also consist of helping to maintain our donor database, mailing of newsletters and preparation for our quarterly brunches.

Our last volunteer, Shiree S., was amazing at highlighting free events for the residents of our properties. Her interaction with residents was always courteous and enthusiastic. She took on the duties of working the reception desk while we conducted our staff meetings and note-taking during our quarterly brunch.

Although I was sad to see her go, she went on to a wonderful job working for UCSF Medical. My hope is that I can find another Shiree.

Volunteers must sign a confidentiality agreement. Experience in an office setting is preferred. Good opportunity for students and recent grads.

Mission Statement

EOCP empowers homeless individuals and families in Alameda County to regain a life of self-reliance. We provide dignified emergency and transitional housing and compassionate, comprehensive support services that prepare homeless people to successfully transition to well being.

Description

East Oakland Community Project is a multi-service center offering emergency and transitional housing in Alameda County. We provide dignified temporary housing that homeless people, including individuals battling HIV/AIDS, can call home while rebuilding their lives. Close to 15,000 of Alameda County's most needy people have come through our doors since 1990. With the opening of Crossroads, our new state-of-the-art emergency housing facility in Oakland, we have the ability to reach more people in need with comprehensive, holistic services.
