Central Ohio Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

at Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio

Serving Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, and Union counties

Help consumers receiving long-term care services expect excellence wherever they live.

The need for Long-Term Care Ombudsmen support is growing. Consumers need help being heard, voicing their concerns, and maintaining their right to quality care. You can help.

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program addresses concerns about the quality of long-term care services and paves the way for the solution of problems arising for individuals receiving long term care services and supports. The Ombudsman Program works with consumers to ensure these services are being provided appropriately and with respect for the consumer’s choices and preferences. Ombudsman volunteers, known as Ombudsman Associates, are critical to the success of the Ombudsman Program.

We are in need of Ombudsman Associates to assist with tasks such as visiting with consumers and making sure they are receiving quality long term care services and supports. Ombudsman Associates contribute about 2 hours per week. Most Associates visit consumers in nursing homes to educate on rights and identify concerns. Project specific opportunities are also available.

Our volunteers are advocates for consumers, have a compassion for individuals receiving services, and are supported by our staff as they work with the nursing home. Volunteer opportunities are available in the eight counties we serve, including Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, and Union counties.

Make a difference in someone’s life and become a Certified Ombudsman Associate. Training is required before volunteering and is provided free at ombudsman offices in Hilliard. Volunteers must be 18 years or older. For more information, contact Dennis Gullick, Regional Volunteer Coordinator, at dgullick@easterseals-cseohio.org or 614-753-8491.
