How fun is it to share a car ride with a bunny? They make good listeners, are quiet, and won't make fun of how you sound when you sing in the car. Promise! Our Bunny Transport Team is crucial in helping us get rabbits the medical care they need by transporting them to and from their veterinary appointments (usually in Hayward and Oakland from our facility in Richmond). We can also use your help bringing rabbits to the House Rabbit Society from local shelters (when we have an open spot, we accept rabbits from shelters all over the Bay Area, and occasionally beyond) and to and from offsite adoption events (also throughout the Bay Area, but primarily in the East Bay). Of course, if you fall in love with our rabbits while spending time with them in the car, you can also become a Bunny Whisperer, as well! Many of our Bunny Transport volunteers also work directly with our rabbits at our facility in Richmond and you're welcome to do the same.
We do ask for a four month commitment from our volunteers, as well as a weekly commitment. Volunteers must be 16 or older.
To become a volunteer, you must first fill out our online application, located on our website here: http://rabbitcenter.org/volunteering/
Once we receive your application we will contact you with tour and training dates and you can get started!

About House Rabbit Society
Location:
148 Broadway, Richmond, CA 94804, US
Mission Statement
House Rabbit Society believes that ALL rabbits are valuable as individuals, regardless of breed, temperament, state of health, or relationship to humans. The welfare of all rabbits is our primary consideration. Our mission has two parts: Through our intake program, we rescue rabbits who are out of time at local animal shelters and find permanent adoptive homes for them; through education, we seek to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits -- and to improve bunnies' lives -- by helping people better understand these often misunderstood companion animals.
Description
House Rabbit Society is a nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue of domestic rabbits, the third most popular companion mammal as well as the third most euthanized mammal in America. We have several volunteer opportunities for individuals with a passion for the humane treatment of animals and an eagerness to learn about rabbits and the nonprofit sector.
