The Children's Justice Center is a homelike facility, which serves children and families who are experiencing the crisis and chaos that come with the disclosure of significant physical or sexual abuse of a child. The function of the Children's Justice Center is to reduce the trauma of the child abuse investigation and help the child feel safe to reveal the truth.
The Onsite Victim Support program involves spending time with many different children while they are visiting the Children's Justice Center. The volunteer agrees to come in for a two-hour shift, Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., at the same time every week. The volunteer plays with and talks to children here for interviews and medical exams. This position requires a four-month commitment, a one-hour orientation, and a background check.
