Maintenance volunteers work on a variety of projects such as maintaining the grounds and landscaping, assisting with repainting the gallery, providing visual updates to the main building or assisting with care and maintenance of the on-site historical and reproduction buildings. Specific projects can be arranged based on interest and skills of volunteers and the ongoing needs of the museum. Maintenance volunteers are crucial to the museum's mission to continue to preserve and educate the public on the rural way of life of North Carolinians from 1880 to 1930. Maintaining the museum's structures, grounds, and appearance is very important to visitors' experience at the museum.
