Licensed pet therapy dogs are needed throughout our service area, which extends from Ashtabula county(east) to Sandusky (west) to past Summit County (south). Dogs and their pet parents visit patients wherever they live-- in one of our three in-patient units (Cleveland (east), Westlake, and Medina) but also in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and sometimes in the patients' own homes.
Therapy dogs provide enormous comfort to the patient and their family members and are in great need.
Dog needs to hold a Pet Therapy certification from either Delta Society or Therapy Dogs International, be current on all shots and hav a dog license. Dog also needs to have insurance. We can provide information on therapy dog trainers and testers and we also offer pet evaluations at various times at our headquarters location in Cleveland.
Pet parents must complete 16 hour volunteer training program plus have a 2 part TB test as well as a criminal background check, all paid for by agency.
