Activity assistants are responsible for overseeing hands on activities for group tours. Group activities include candle dipping, butter churning, and Heritage Games (such as marbles, milking Bessie the woden cow, etc.). Activity assistants set up, provide instructions for, and clean up after activities. Activity assistants need to be able to effectively instruct and manage groups of children and adults, communicate clearly with the museum staff, groups, and individuals, and answer questions from the group. Activity assistant volunteers are an important part of making group tours run smoothly at the museum and provide an opportunity in which visitors get to participate in educational and fun hands-on programming.
