We are looking for a volunteer grant writing and grant research expert who is passionate about our mission to create economic opportunities for low income female artisans in Peru working with traditional crafts. Through fair trade practices and educational workshops Ruraq Maki creates a bridge between artisans and a global market, creating a world where women are economically and socially independent.

Ruraq Maki envisions a world where all artisans earn a fair and just income, allowing them access to basic resources, such as food, water, shelter, education and health care. In this world, handmade artisan work has a permanent place in the global market and culturally traditional materials, techniques, and designs are preserved and valued as legitimate forms of art.

Volunteer Duties may include:

• Conducts research into prospects for new funding opportunities
• Write effective grant proposals
• Complete grant applications by collaborating with Board members and Executive Director
• Help manage the grants funding portfolio, maintain records and tracking of grant deliverables including all grant application processes from the point of cultivation to proposal submission, compliance, and reporting
• The volunteer works closely with the Executive Director and Development Director and collaborates with board members to ensure successful grant writing and budget development
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures & documents

Qualifications / Experience

• Excellent writing skills (with a successful track record of securing grant funds in the non-profit sector). Strong writing is key to the success of this position and must be strategic, analytical, and data-informed
• Experience securing grants; experience with foundation relations; experience leading fundraising campaigns and/or soliciting donations from individuals, corporate, etc.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with fundraising databases and best practices.
• Minimum 2+ years of fundraising, sales, marketing, communications, event planning experience
• Candidates from backgrounds like Marketing & Sales, Business Development, Corporate Communication, Content Writers, Project Managers, Grant Writers, Partnership are welcome to apply

Ruraq Maki is based in San Francisco, however, this position is open to individuals throughout the country as long as they can communicate regularly with the director via email, telephone, Skype, Google Chat, or any other preferred method.
