We are looking for volunteers interested in tutoring adult learners enrolled in our FREE English as a Second Language classes. No experience necessary!

We are currently in need of volunteers that can come during our class hours of 9-11:30am on week days and weekends 10-12:30pm. We also have citizenship prep tutoring (every day).

We ask that volunteers commit to tutoring at least once a week for 2.5 hours. Volunteers will be given letters of recommendation after 45 hours! We will train you. You will also have access to additional free trainings,

If you are interested in helping but don't feel like tutoring is for you, we have tons of odd jobs and small projects you could work on. We look forward to hearing from you!

Description

VAI serves refugees and immigrants of any and all ethnicity. We are located in Uptown, an incredibly diverse region of the city. We offer a plethora of resources and services to our community. These include:

  • Adult Education Classes (ESL/EL Civics/Citizenship/Computers)
  • After school and Summer Youth program
  • Homemaker care for the elderly
  • Employment obtainment and training
  • Citizenship obtainment counseling
  • Refugee and immigrant rights advocacy and assistance
  • Translation services (Vietnamese, Chinese, and Arabic)
