Support Englewood Students as a Homework Helper at Mays Academy Chicago

Do you have a passion for education and some free time in the afternoon?

Are you upset by the educational inequality in our city and want to make a difference?

The Community Schools Initiative, a part of Children’s Home Aid’s Clinical and Community Services, works to alleviate the barriers to learning created by poverty and violence for students attending struggling Chicago Public Schools.

The Community Schools Program Staff would like to provide more support for students during the homework portion of the programming, and are usually eager to have support during the arts/enrichment portion also. They are hoping for amazing volunteers to step up and fill the gaps where there is not enough funding for staff. The schools would appreciate ongoing volunteers who could come once weekly (or more if interested) and be a reliable presence for the kids.

Children's Home & Aid works with students who come from Chicago's most impoverished, violent, and resource-limited communities. We provide supportive services to help encourage students' academic achievement and social-emotional development. Since 2002, Children’s Home Aid has provided academic support, enrichment, counseling services and parent and community programs in a safe and supportive environment at its partner schools during the after-school hours.

Mays Academy Programming is Monday - Thursday from 3:15 - 5:00pm
