BayKids Studios is a local nonprofit organization, helping children heal through the art of filmmaking. We are looking for a dynamic team of filmmakers and editors in the SF Peninsula and South Bay to help in digital film productions and improve the lives of children fighting life-threatening illnesses and other serious medical conditions.
BayKids seeks experienced video editors who can creatively and quickly find the best story structure in our children's diverse projects, in order to turn out high quality shorts for the children and the community. Volunteer editors will edit raw footage and work with BayKids Producers to ensure weekly movies honor children's vision and are efficiently edited in the highest quality for the children. Preference for expertise in FinalCut Pro and Premiere Pro, as well as experience with sound mixing (including noise reduction), special effects, animation, color correction, and graphic design. Editors must have their own equipment and software.
BayKids seeks experienced filmmakers who are comfortable with the sensitive health environment our kids and their families are facing. A passion for children and for communicating their unique voices is essential. Spanish fluency is super.

Mission Statement
BayKids Studios heals children through the art of filmmaking. BayKids promotes creative self-expression for kids by providing filmmaking, broadcasting and innovative opportunities to children, many of whom are in need and have disabilities. By offering kids a fun and safe environment to express themselves and work together, BayKids helps build self esteem, teaches new skills, and improves children's lives.
Description
BayKids began as a community outreach program for the San Francisco Giants. The program, which ran from 1994 to 1997, was built around a character, Giantasaurus Rex (a member of the Giants baseball team), who visited elementary schools with a message of Respect, Responsibility, and Teamwork. Rex also visited children with all types of disabilities at care giving facilities like the Shriners' Hospital and Children's Hospital. Today, BayKids continues to be a multimedia organization focused on serving disabled and underprivileged children in the Bay Area. BayKids provides children with a unique opportunity for enrichment. Our film making program allows kids to explore their creativity while learning valuable teamwork and leadership skills. We are able to reach a diverse population through our partnership programs with Children's Hospital Oakland, UCSF Children's Hospital, and the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford Medical Center.
