Mission Statement

We grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses, to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Did you know, a wish is not simply a wish. Independent research has proven that the impact of a wish improves medical outcomes for wish kids bravely frightening against their illnesses? Last year we granted over 700 wishes in Western and Metro NY. We have amazing children waiting for their wishes to be filled. We have exciting volunteer opportunities where you can make an impact.

Description

On April 29, 1980 in Phoenix, a young boy’s wish to be a police officer was granted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety and his dream served as the inspiration for the largest wish-granting organization in the world. He was given a custom-made uniform, helmet and badge and spent the day as a police officer.

The Metro New York chapter, which served the five boroughs of New York City and Nassau County, Long Island, began in 1983 when 7-year-old Steven’s wish to meet Daisy Duke (actress Catherine Bach) of the popular "Dukes of Hazzard" television show came true. The Western New York chapter was founded in 1992, when a young girl wished to meet country music legend, Reba McIntyre at Melody Fair. The Western New York chapter served children in 17 counties in the Buffalo and Rochester area. In September of 2011 the two chapters joined forces, now serving a total of 23 counties in the State of New York.
