Since 1978, CONTACT of Mercer County's trained Reassurance volunteers have been calling independent seniors, offering brief conversation and checks on wellbeing. This service is offered free to all seniors living alone in the Mercer County.

CONTACT is looking for volunteers willing to make daily calls, lasting 5-10mins to check the security and wellbeing of a local senior. Calls can be made wherever is convenient and no further contact with clients is required.

What do we need?
-Compassionate, patient volunteers available on a daily basis to make telephone contact with vulnerable seniors.
-Volunteers availability to attend a 2 hour in-person training session.

Reassurance: Costs nothing, can mean everything!

The mission of CONTACT of Mercer County, NJ, Inc. is to provide compassionate, confidential telephone listening and referral services, giving hope and reassurance to people in crisis.


CONTACT of Mercer County is a family of programs which focus volunteer action to deal with community needs. A crisis intervention HOTLINE is staffed exclusively by trained volunteers. The Telephone Reassurance Program utilizes volunteers to make daily or as scheduled "check-in" calls to seniors or shut in adults. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) helps mature volunteers - 55 plus - locate and remain in community service activities focused on a host of community needs.
