Employment & Self Sufficiency Aide (Employment and Citizenship)

Assist refugees and immigrants to become citizens and find their first job

Requirements: Willingness and ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are new English learners; must exhibit cultural sensitivity and appreciation, as well as a zeal for service.

Desired Skills: Knowledge of Asian Pacific American cultures beneficial; ability to speak, write, and read English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) preferred; bachelor’s degree in social service, education or related field preferred. Experience with Limited English speaking youth and their families who are culturally diverse, and academically and economically disadvantaged desired.

Hours: Full Time

Within the Employment and Citizenship program AmeriCorps Members will provide individual assistance and classroom instruction to individuals seeking employment and citizenship services. Members will coordinate recruitment, training, and supervision of program volunteers to support and compliment the AmeriCorps-sponsored activities. They will develop the program’s volunteer management infrastructure, including implementation of new marketing and recruitment strategies.
