Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Mitzvah Mobility, Do a Mitzvah - Volunteer Drivers Needed in the Owings Mills and Pikesville Areas!
Imagine needing to see your doctor but being unable to get to the office on your own. What if you had a very important appointment but had no one to take you? Older adults living in our community face these dilemmas every day. They need a ride, they need an escort, they need someone like you.
Jewish Community Services has seen a rise in the numbers of agency clients requesting help. Last year our volunteers provided an average of 113 rides per month, this year it’s up to 133 trips. That’s an 18-percent increase.
Most JCS clients live in Pikesville and Owings Mills, so JCS is looking for volunteers to drive and escort clients to medical and other necessary appointments in those areas. The program, Mitzvah Mobility, helps older adults maintain their health and independence. And it allows you to do a mitzvah. Flexible hours; mileage reimbursement available.
