The Obon Festival roots go back hundreds of years. The central idea is reflect upon and remember our ancestors. This is not a somber affair. On the contrary, it is quite joyful. The idea is to dance for joy at the thought of our predessors. The centerpiece of the festival is the japanese folkdancing that occurs both evenings. There is a japanese band, taiko druming, food, children's game booths and bingo. Beer & sake are also served. This will be the 79th year for the festival at this Temple. An informal poll indicates this is the largest festival of this type in the country.
This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.
