The Obon Festival is an annual festival and will be held this year during the weekend of July 13-14, 2024. The festival includes a variety of food booths, games for children, taiko performances, cultural displays/discussions, and Japanese dancing.
Specific shifts for volunteers will be available for signup, including pre-festival prep activities during July 7-12, 2024. Visit this site for more information about the festival:

The Festival is on 5th Street, between Taylor and Jackson. Free parking at First St & Hedding with free shuttle service to/from 5th St & Taylor will be available from 11AM-10PM Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14.

Description
The Obon Festival roots reach back hundreds of years. The purpose is to reflect upon and remember our ancestors. The centerpiece of the Festival is the Japanese folk dancing, accompanied by a live band, that occurs Saturday and Sunday evenings. The Festival also includes taiko (Japanese drumming), a variety of delicious foods, children's game booths, crafts, and bingo. Beer and sake are also served. An informal poll indicates that the San Jose Obon Festival is one of the largest Obon Festivals in the country.
