Every day thousands of cancer patients need a ride to a medical facility for treatment. The American Cancer Society’s Road To Recovery free program assists patients and their caregivers with these transportation needs. You can help save a life by volunteering your time as a Road To Recovery Volunteer Driver. Volunteer drivers donate their time and vehicles to take patients to and from treatment appointments. They also provide encouragement and support. Road To Recovery volunteers arrange their own schedules, with some volunteering as little as one afternoon a month and others driving patients as often as twice a week. If you are between the ages of 18-84, have a reliable car, computer/laptop, current driver’s license, auto insurance, and some spare time, you can help someone keep a very important appointment. To learn more about becoming a volunteer for Road To Recovery, call 1-800-227-2345 or visit http://www.cancer.org/drive. Programs are free of charge to cancer patients.

Mission Statement
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.
Description
The American Cancer Society's signature fundraiser is The Relay For Life. This is a 24 hour community based event that raises funds and awareness for cancer. We celebrate cancer survivors and their caregivers, remember those who have lost their battle to cancer, and we commit to fighting back against a disease that has already taken too much from too many.
The American Cancer Society provides free services to cancer patients and their caregivers. We provide transportation to cancer patients to and from their cancer treatments, we offer support groups for cancer patients and caregivers, we offer mileage reimbursement to cancer patients to and from their cancer treatments, and we provide funds and hope at the annual Relay For Life events that take place around the world. We fund researchers to find a cure for cancer.
