Couples working together to make a difference!

Have you and your spouse or significant other ever considered jointly mentoring a teenage boy or girl? This writer and his wife did so for over a year - and it was a deeply rewarding experience for all three of us.

Together you can make a big difference in a youth's life, for earning a high school degree is the first step on the path to a successful maturity.

YES!Atlanta mentors and youth are both called Committed Partners. Together, your goal is to enhance the teen's academic success and self-esteem while reducing or eliminating unproductive and self-defeating behavior.

This is a serious year-long commitment for which you will be trained and supported. You promise to meet with your Committed Partner face to face at least once a week for an hour or more, doing what you both enjoy, while communicating at other times by phone or social media.

YES!Atlanta has worked with nearly 1,000 youth since its founding in 1988. Visit our web site for more information.

About YES!Atlanta, Inc.

Location:

395 Pryor Street, Atlanta, GA 30312, US

Mission Statement

YES!Atlanta enrolls "at-risk" inner-city teens and supports them with long-term mentoring by trained adult mentors recruited from throughout our city. Our goal is to have participants graduate from high school, while reducing or eliminating self-defeating behavior that hinders their maturing into fulfilled, responsible and productive members of their community.

Description

YES!Atlanta's Rising Star Program was created in 1990. Targeting inner city teenagers, Rising Star is a year-long mentoring program that supports participants in fulfilling goals they set for themselves upon entering the program. We were named a "Point of Light" by President George H. W. Bush, in honor of the effectiveness of our work with teenagers. Since its creation Rising Star has worked with nearly 1,000 youngsters to open new possibilities in their lives and end their hopelessness about their future.
