Freedom Fair on Ruston Way!

Tacoma Events Commission, producer of Tacoma's premiere celebration of the 4th of July, Freedom Fair, seeks several enthusiastic volunteers to fill key intern positions working with the board of directors and executive director.

Interns will gain invaluable experience in the planning, development, and implementation of the longest-running and largest one-day festivals in Washington State, development of effective sponsorship programs and sponsorship fulfillment activities. The successful candidates will also forge strong working relationships with community and business leaders which could lead to future employment opportunities.

Positions still open include:

Assistant to the President & CEO (1 position) - planning, organizing and execution of sponsorship development in support of Tacoma Freedom Fair. Additional responsibilities for planning, organizing and execution of activities related to Camp Patriot, Kids’ Zones, and Beer Gardens on the west end of the Freedom Fair venue, including follow-up with potential vendors, resource development, entertainment. Must be able to work evenings and some weekends.

Assistant to the Vice President (1 position) - planning, organizing and execution of activities related to VP’s specific responsibilities. Must be able to work evenings and some weekends.

Assistant to Sponsorship Development Director (3 positions) - support of activities related to sponsorship development and fulfillment. Acquisition activities related to obtaining donations of food for event volunteers. Must be able to work evenings and some weekends.

Assistant to Director of Marketing (3 positions) - Seeking enthusiastic interns with desire for a career in Marketing, Advertising, and Communications. Assist with marketing and advertising using social media, email, and personal engagement with business leaders in the South Sound. Create and coordinate marketing and promotional materials, update organization’s website, manage mail/e-mail campaigns. Must be able to work evenings and some weekends.

Assistant to the Executive Director (2 Positions) - supporting the operation of the non-profit and planning, coordination, and execution of TEC events (including, but not limited to, Tacoma Freedom Fair). Communicate with vendors, enter/update information to vendor database, prepare and send out vendor packages. Assist Executive Director in other activities to be identified. Coordinate with Director of Operations and other event managers, assisting them as directed by Executive Director. Greet visitors, answer phones, handle routine correspondence.

Tacoma Events Commission is a group of volunteers who strive to create lasting memories for our community by producing events such as Tacoma's annual 4th of July festival, Freedom Fair; Tall Ships Tacoma 2005, Gray Sky Blues Music Festival and Orting Pumpkin Fest.
