Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Meals on Wheels is looking for help in bringing delicious meals to Marin's homebound seniors and disabled and providing a friendly visit. We currently need part-time drivers and assistants (Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings). All that is required is a friendly smile and a clean driving record (for volunteer drivers).
Responsibilities: -Deliver meals in a safe manner, within a defined area and time and in accordance with our policies and procedures -Safely assist client in bringing meal into the home -Follow protocol for leaving meals and responding when client does not answer -Load vehicle with hot/cold food carrier and upon return, unload and store -Maintain regular contact during route and notify base if there are any variances in route or schedule -Submit daily manifests
Qualifications: -Friendly & reliable plus excellent customer service skills and a desire to help others -The ability to lift up to 25 lbs -Good driving record -Provide at least 2 professional references
